The Gallery has undergone an extensive building and renovation program which has resulted in the restoration of the purpose built 19th century rooms and the addition of new gallery spaces for sculpture and contemporary Australian art.

Museum of Brisbane

Museum of Brisbane (MoB), owned and operated by Brisbane City Council, is a city-dedicated museum exploring the people, places and stories of Brisbane. Founded in 2003, the museum expanded on the former Brisbane City Gallery (opened in 1977) with an emphasis on initiating and developing major social history exhibitions relating to Brisbane, while incorporating a visual arts program. Currently located within Brisbane City Hall, Museum of Brisbane attracts on average more than 30,000 visitors per month. In early 2010 MoB will temporarily relocate to an alternative CBD location while Brisbane City Hall is closed for vital restoration.
