Single User Systems
Vernon licences are
based on the number of concurrent active users, not
the number of workstations on a network. That means
that it's the same thing if you have only one computer
or if you have a staff of five, each with their own
computer, but are happy for only one of these people
to be able to work in Vernon at a time. In both
situations a single-user licence will be adequate. Costs
for the Vernon Cataloguing Module alone or the combined Vernon Cataloguing
and Vernon Activities Modules include the Revelation
LAN licences needed and the imaging system.

Multi User Systems
Institutions that want more than one person to be able to work in Vernon simultaneously must still purchase the basic single-user licence. Additional users are then added to this in increments and user licences can be purchased at any time. You may, for example, start out with a five-user system (i.e. the basic single-user licence plus four additional users) and later find the system so active that your staff are frustrated by the inability to log on until another user has logged off. You can then add any number of additional users as required. Costs for a multi-user system:

Note: The incremental cost of adding additional users is the
same regardless of whether you have purchased only the
Cataloguing Module or both modules. Site licences can
be negotiated for sites with a large number of users.
These are more economical than the incremental cost
for the same number of users.
For networked/multi-user systems it is essential to acquire the
Revelation Universal Driver server software. This improves performance
and integrity. The cost of the Universal Driver is
per server (not per user).

Public Access
These modules are an optional addition to Vernon. The cost of either the Vernon Browser or the Vernon HTML Export would be included in the total licence value when calculating support and upgrade fees.

The Vernon Browser licence is for a single iteration of Vernon Browser. This means a single implementation (which could encompass any number of items and collection types) in a single exported operation and run on a single server site. Multiple iterations can be licensed, with each additional iteration being priced at 20% of the Vernon Browser licence. The Vernon Browser licence price does not include any consultancy to assist with its configuration to meet your requirements. Any such consultancy is charged at the normal consultancy rates. Please contact us for estimates according to your environment and requirements. You will also need to make provision for the customisation of the interface to have the graphical style of your own web pages. A copy of the Vernon Browser, Memorandum of Understanding can be provided on request.
Annual Support Agreement
The Annual Support Agreement provides access to unlimited continuing support for the application and regular upgrades.
Vernon Systems is constantly working to expand and improve the system and users of Vernon often suggest changes and enhancements. The best of these are frequently incorporated and all new functions and features are provided to users in the form of regular upgrades.
The annual cost for the Support Agreement is 20% of the current value of Vernon licences held (i.e. of licences including the Vernon Activities Module, Vernon Browser and Vernon HTML Export, but excluding licences for Networking products).
The Support Agreement is obligatory in the first year of implementation (as this is the time when clients are most likely to require help in using the system), with the first 90 days free-of-charge. Thus the first year′s support cost is equivalent to 15% of the licence value.
Training, Customisation and Data Conversion
Training, Customisation and Data Conversion are charged using the daily consulting rate, plus expenses.

Three days of training are suggested as ideal for the Vernon Cataloguing Module, with an additional two days suggested if both modules have been purchased.
Customised windows usually require one or two days of work per window.
The number of days required for Data Conversion depends on the quantity of data and on the format of the source data but the range is usually between five and ten days of work.
